CHED visits SSU for BPA, BS Environmental Science Program & Institutional Monitoring & Validation

CATBALOGAN CITY —  Samar State University welcomes the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in its Program and Institutional Monitoring and Validation Visit for Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BS Envi Sci), today, July 22, 2026 at the 3rd Flr Convention Center, SSU Main Campus, Catbalogan City.

SSU University President Dr. Redentor S. Palencia warmly welcomed the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQUAT) members, university key officials, campus directors, deans, program chairpersons, teaching and non-teaching personnel. Dr. Palencia highlighted that, “We have to remember, we have this big picture, we have this long view, that our long view reads trasnformative university committed to technology, innovation, and service excellence. We are always aligning our programs, activities towards this vision statement.”

Dr. Catherine O. Iglesias, OIC Chief Education Program Specialist, introduced the RQUAT whose members are: Education Supervisors Engr. Nelly L. Labrada, Jane A. Latorre; Narciso C. Candiza, and Jan Paolo K. Vega; Norina T. Esposia, Education Program Specialist, Dr. Flordeliz B. Dacuyan, RQUAT for BPA, Dr. Tito M. Cabili, RQUAT for BS Envi Sci, and Prof. Arvin U. Pacoma, RQUAT for Envi Sci.

Dr. Iglesias emphasized in the Rationale their presence in the activity, “So, we have various reasons of coming here. First is we received your application for the COPC issuance for BS Envi Sci of SSU Mercedes las September 2025. Then seond, last March 2026, we received another application for the issuance of COPC for the BPA. And lastly, we received the request of SSU for the site inspection for its proposed site of the extension classes for academic programs in Daram and Zumarraga…CHEDRO 8 included in the purpose of visit, one of the commission’s mandate which is the regular monitoring of the institution and program offerings.”

The activity will run for 2 days and is expected to conclude on 23 July 2026.
